One of the things you have to realize about culinary arts schools is that they're mostly a place to make contacts. The best culinary schools will give you cooking skills, but more importantly they will introduce you to inspiring and top-notch people in your chosen field. On the other hand, going to the best culinary school in the nation isn't going to help if it is in an area you don't want to work in. You want to find a good chef school in a city that you are interested in finding employment in. That way, you will already have the connections that you need to get started. The best culinary school I ever saw was in Chicago. I was actually enrolled as a student there for a few weeks, but I had to drop out due to some family emergencies.
