Windmill History – Oh what a story they tell!

Windmill History is as Old as the Hills. European Windmills adorn the landscape of most countries. Whether they’re in ruins of fine fettle, they are always a welcome sight to any landscape. Although school history will tell us that windmills were made famous in Holland, they didn’t actually originate from there. In fact the earliest windmills ever have been discovered in Asia of all places. These attractive constructions have been the workhorses of many a land for generations, and what’s more, they provided green energy. Nowadays, we’re seeing new technology being used with twenty first century windmills used to generate electricity. Very practical, and extremely environmentally friendly, but hardly the attraction of the originals. Many of the beautiful old constructions are being converted into prime real estate as entrepreneurs turn them into fine homes, holiday homes, and trendy restaurants.
