I’d be willing to bet that most people assume that computer spy software is designed solely for nefarious purposes. After all, “spying” necessarily means that you’re monitoring someone’s activities without the person’s knowledge, and that doesn’t seem like a good thing. But I’ve come to realize that there are several legitimate uses for computer spy software, and have changed my mind about these programs. For one thing, computer spy software can be used by parents to monitor their children’s online actions. These days, social networking websites like Facebook and MySpace are wildly popular with pre-teens and teens. Unfortunately, this makes the sites highly attractive to would-be sexual predators who pose as peers and try to lure underage targets to secret real-life meetings.
