The Importance of Cold Air Return Vents
Although they are called Cold Air Return Vents, it does not mean that they waft cold air into a building. The inexpensive yet extremely effective products simply make an opening from the outside to the in. The only time a chill may be noticeable is when a gusty wind happens to be blowing right onto the side that the vent is located. Even if this doesn’t happen, you simply close, or partially close the air return vent slats that cover it room-side. Generally speaking, these are placed low down the wall, usually just above the skirting board, and can be made to blend in to the surrounding décor so that they are not eye catching or obtrusive in any way. The most important reason for having air return vents is of course ventilation. These little home improvement products can be found in any DIY and local hardware stores. Installing them is almost as easy as shopping for them providing you’re handy around the home. Air return vents can mean the difference between living in a damp, mildew ridden home that is dangerous to the health of you and your family, and a nice clean dry living space that has a good circulation of air.
